Concept behind strength of influence

Post by ind »

I have a hard time understanding the concept behind strength of influence given exact numbers. Using the coma network that accompanies GeNIe software the strength of influence between brain tumor and coma node is 0.375? What does that number tell me? I cannot derive 0.375 when setting different hard evidence for brain tumor node. How is it calculated and how to read it? My problem is that I can see brain tumor has a influence of 0.375 on coma node but I don't really understand how to explain it more profoundly.

Thanks,
