A simple question
The user guide says that at the Discretization tab of an equation node, if I select Elicitate, I can manually edit the CPT. But I just cannot do it. All the numbers in the CPT table are not editable. Why?
Thanks

Any idea to create a truncated distribution?
Hi anyone in the forum I want to create a truncated distribution - e.g. a normal distribution N(5,1) be truncated at a threshold, say 3, so that there is no frequency of occurrence before the threshold (3). Making it bit more complex is that the threshold itself is stochastic subjected to a distribu...

Discretization problem
Dear administrator I have a network with equation nodes and got the following message (excerpted) in the Output window: Discretization problem in node NumLights: Overflow samples: 156, max=124.02 hiBound=100 Total valid samples: 9844 of 10000 Discretization problem in node Best_ESC_price: Underflow ...

User-defined PDF function
Hi Administrator I got a problem with the self-defined probability distribution function - CustomPDF in using the equation node. Please see attached two sample nodes, one defined as a uniform distribution, the other a quite evenly spaced uni-model distribution. However the displayed pattern is very ...

Re: Hybrid model program
I figured out - hybrid doesn't work for influence diagram for some reason I don't understand. That is to say the network cannot contain any decision and value node. But why?

Hybrid model program
Hi administrator I tried to add an equation node in a network and got an error message: "Error (-2): UpdateBeliefs failed. Unable to handle hybrid netoworks in influence diagram. Error (-2): UpdateBeleifs fails." However if I isolate (copy) the equation node and its chance parent node as a...

Re: Urgent - errors in LEAK column
After a number of tests, it seems that the occurrence of the problem is quite random but relating to deleting or add parent nodes to an existing Noisy-adder node. Most times the child node's simplified CPT table is intact i.e. the distinguished states of the remaining / existing parent nodes were un...

Re: Urgent - errors in LEAK column
Hi The problem I reported last time came again today. Having significantly modified a net including changing the number of states and node type of many nodes I can't re-open it once saved. No warning or error message during the work. When trying to reopen it, the message in the Output window reads: ...

Re: Any advice on modelling a variable with combined prohibiting and promoting effects?
Thanks Merek. As I said before probably in another thread I already studied your paper sometime ago. But I still don't quite get it for applying BN in a realworld setting why variables have to have a neutral state.

Re: Urgent - errors in LEAK column
The problem came up in a strange way. On reflection, it occurred after I made changes to the node type e.g. switching from chance to NoisyMax or Adder, or adding or deleting states of certain nodes, or switched network update to automatic. I'm not sure whether this was just a coincidence or related....
