Re: passing posterior probs of a dichotomous node to a probebility weigh node

I understand your very sensible design choice! I'll stay with linking human distortions to accuracy nodes, instead of linking them to dichotomic stimulus nodes. As for your question... agenarisk and netica do not allow passing distributions, same as GeNIe. I do not know anything about the crazily ...

Re: passing posterior probs of a dichotomous node to a probebility weigh node

Hi Marek, I apologize for obscurity in the previous post. I think you grasped it correctly but, to be sure, I try with a more neat example. In the attached mininet there is a stimulus (.5 priors), a human detector with accuracy .9 (it is a point prob in the example, but please consider that it would ...

passing posterior probs of a dichotomous node to a probebility weigh node

Hello,
in our studies we often need to distort accurate probability estimates to match actual estimates made by subjects. In the attached example (a small subset extracted from a larger hierarchical model) the "linlog" (linear-to-log-odds) equation in the network properties is one of many possible ...

Is there a way to use a net as a DataGenerator in the rSmile Wrap?

Hello,
I found in the C++ smile manual a whole set of functions for generating data from a network (section 8.12). But I could not find any way to use DataGenerator in the rSmile wrap (and all my code is in R, alas). Is it possible to use a net as a data generator in rSmile?
Thx

Re: possible bug?

Ok. I confirm your observations, the visualization asymmetry appears in excel, wolfram, etc. Perhaps it springs from some bias toward lower values in visualization algorithms using bins, and if so it should not affect the accuracy of the network. Thank you!

possible bug?

Hello,
premise: I replicated the suspect behavior in the attached small three-node non-discretized equation nodes, but I observed it in a larger network where I do not know if it might posit a problem, or not. The function Max(1,Min(13,Uniform(-6,6)+Uniform(1,13)) should be symmetric, with two peaks ...

Re: zero avoidance in discretization apparently does not work properly

Sorry, I wrote the other way around what I really meant. I originally meant "I need a node that DOES NOT avoid zeroes (first original image), but even though I deselect zeroavoidance, any time it is rediscretized for updating it avoids zeroes (second original image)". Then I solved the problem ...

zero avoidance in discretization apparently does not work properly

I need zero avoidance in the discretization of some equation nodes with intrinsic (and logically important) zeroes. The option in network preferences works when I push the button "rediscretize":

but as soon as close the node properties windows and I open it ...

possible bug in noisy MAX nodes, version 5.0

Hi, in GeNIe academic 5.0 (installed on a Mac 32 bit by Crossover) the noisy max nodes, Net parameters window, do not allow switching between parents' states. The menu for switching states appears, but it stays gray and is inactive (see attached picture; the picture is from one of your noisy max ...

Yes, sorry for having wasted your time. I forgot that the solution the previous time was 32-bit installation. Now it works, thanks.

Copy and paste problem with GeNIe 5

Hello,
the newly released GeNIe version 5 does not allow to copy networks from GeNIe and paste them as TIFF images to microsoft word (nor microsoft power point; I did not check for other softwares). Genie 4.1 still allowed it. I remember having reported a similar bug for the transition between two ...

Re: Strange behavior of TruncNormal

We do get funny (in terms of being large) number of samples in forward inference for small and large values of evidence in v1 (e.g., 0..1, 1..2, 8..9, and 9..10 :-).

:-) Where can you see the number of samples that are generated? In my GeNIe the output windows report them only when there are some ...

Re: Strange behavior of TruncNormal

This is for contextualising the theoretical problem only. It is a small fragment (the complete case has some more clues) of an old italian murder case that I use as an example in class. Bare data for the fragment:
1) a victim V is murdered (by stabbing) in her house and is found - more or less ...
