Discrete nodes and numeric domains

By default, discrete nodes represent random variables with categorical outcomes, each identified by a unique string label (the outcome identifier). In SMILE 2, discrete nodes can also model numerical random variables, allowing calculations over numeric outcomes. Each outcome can be associated either with a numeric interval or with a discrete numeric value (point value).

Intervals are used to define continuous numeric distributions over the outcomes, while point values are used to define discrete numeric distributions, where each outcome has a single associated numeric value.
